Behind-the-Scenes on Shoot Day 6

Posted by jcrump to Production Updates , Video

We recently completed our final shoot day of the original schedule (we have to reschedule two short scenes due to rain), and it was a blast.  It was great to see how the cast and crew had grown to know the characters and how to efficiently work together.  Some of the best moments include:

1) Stick trippin’ – First, Gene tripped on a large stick.  Then, Lisa tripped on the same stick.  We moved the stick.  Then I tripped on a separate stick, twice.  Sticks are not fans of Young Adult.

2) Ishu got her jib groove on – One of our director Ishu’s favorite pieces of equipment is a jib.  She got to use it in every single scene, and it was like watching a kid get his first Nintendo on Christmas.

3) Pedi-cab action – Special thanks go out to Brian Aurelio who drove the pedi-cab for one scene.  It was awesome.

4) “Insurance” – I paid a guy in Menthol cigarettes and Pepsi to watch our equipment/cars.  He did a good job, in his extortionist defense.

Also, check out the newest behind-the-scenes video showcasing the fun we had on our penultimate shoot day!

More Unions Formed During 48 Hour Film Project

Posted by Ishu to Other Projects , Pictures , Video

I participated in the 48 Hour Film Project for the 6th time in Washington, DC this year.  My friends Mike Morsey and Matt Melnicoff worked with me on the project last year, and were eager to participate again this year.  I sent out a note to the folks working with me on The Gym.  J.W. Crump said he would love to act, but also be part of the writing team.  He rattled off some ideas to me, which I instantly loved.  I brought him on board to the writing team without hesitation.

Our writing sessions went very well, and we churned out a screenplay in record time in the history of my participation in 48 Hour Film Project.  I was happy to learn that Mike, Matt, and J.W. got along and enjoyed writing together.  Thus, formed the beginnings of the “Young Adult” writing team.  See a video below of our writing session.
